Furniture
Indoor · made to orderDining tables, benches, desks, shelving and the odd one-off. Sized to your room and built to be handed down.

Prince Edward County, Ontario
Custom tables, benches and heirloom pieces, plus saunas, pergolas and timber frames for the land around you. Made by hand in the County.
The workshop
Good Carpentry is Adam Masson’s workshop in Prince Edward County. We build furniture for kitchens and living rooms, and timber structures for gardens, shorelines and fields.
Every piece starts with a conversation about how it will be used. From there it moves to drawings, then to choosing boards with the right grain for the job. Joinery is cut to last, and nothing leaves the shop until it sits flat and feels right under your hand.
The work
Dining tables, benches, desks, shelving and the odd one-off. Sized to your room and built to be handed down.

Saunas, pergolas, shelters, timber frames and outdoor furniture, built for Lake Ontario weather and meant to weather well.

The woods
Most of what we build comes from trees that grow across Ontario. Hardness, stability and how a wood weathers decide where it goes.
Quercus alba
Best forDining tables, benches, outdoor seating
Tough and tight-grained. Holds up to water and turns silver outdoors.
Juglans nigra
Best forHeirloom tables, desks, accents
Rich brown heartwood with lively figure. Mellows to a warm bronze over the years.
Prunus serotina
Best forCabinets, side tables, chairs
Smooth and fine. Darkens from salmon pink to deep red-brown in the sun.
Acer saccharum
Best forWorktops, cutting boards, drawers
Pale, dense and very hard-wearing. The tree behind the flag and the syrup.
Thuja occidentalis
Best forSaunas, cladding, outdoor furniture
Light, aromatic and naturally rot-resistant. Stays cool to the touch in a hot sauna.
Pinus strobus
Best forTimber frames, pergolas, barns
Stable, straight and easy to work in big sections. Ontario’s provincial tree.
Janka hardness is the force needed to press a 0.444-inch steel ball halfway into the wood. Higher means more resistant to dents. Bars run 0 to 1,500 lbf.
Process
Whether it’s a coffee table or a cedar sauna, the path from first message to delivery looks much the same.
Tell us what you’re picturing, where it will live and how it will be used. Photos, sketches and rough measurements all help.
We come back with drawings, a wood recommendation and a clear price before any timber is cut.
Boards are picked for grain and colour, then left to settle in the shop so they move less once they’re home.
Indoor furniture: 6–8% moisture content
Joinery first, then shaping, sanding and finishing. Progress photos come your way as it takes shape.
We deliver and install around the County, and walk you through caring for the finish.
Built to be used every day, repaired when needed, and handed down.

A few lines is plenty to start. Include where it’s going, rough sizes if you have them, and any timing we should know about.
